OUR
SCHOOL
Warren Wood Primary School is located on Arethusa Road in Rochester.

Rochester is part of the unitary authority of Medway, which includes the towns of Chatham, Gillingham, Strood, Rainham, and historic Rochester. We are privileged to be surrounded by history and culture, from the castle and cathedral at Rochester and the historic dockyard where Nelson’s HMS Victory was built, to the theatres in Chatham and the many state-of-the-art sporting facilities across the towns. We have access to a rich and diverse heritage steeped in tradition and modern customs and celebrations.

We are an integral part of the Beyond Schools Trust with a family of ten schools. Within our Trust we have Balfour Juniors, Warren Wood Primary, Hilltop Primary, Chantry, Greenacre and Walderslade Partnership, Phoenix Primary, Robert Napier, Thomas Aveling and Fort Pitt. We collaborate relentlessly to ensure we are as a Trust consistently moving and learning for the benefit of our pupils and their futures.

OUR
VALUES

At Warren Wood Primary School, we provide an education for our children that will contribute to their confidence, competence and motivation which is essential for them to achieve, participate in further education and to be successful in life and at work. We believe that education is not for children but for the adults they will become which encourages young people to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

Our curriculum, ethos and approach at Warren Wood Primary fully supports the personal development of each and every pupil. Children are nurtured and encouraged to develop attributes such as confidence, resilience and independence as well as an understanding of British values in order that they are fully prepared for life in 21st Century Britain, and indeed, the world. Equality and diversity are promoted and celebrated throughout school and we are very proud of a curriculum which equips our children with the knowledge, skills and understanding to lead happy, safe and healthy lives whilst enabling them to develop their talents and strive for their goals.

Our values are woven through the curriculum in all lessons and our RECIPE LIC acronym is referred to constantly during the day, reminding the children of what this means to them: respect, excellence, collaboration, independence, perseverance, enjoyment, leadership, integrity and care.
Our Beyond the Classroom Lead, Mrs Doree, can be contacted via the main office.

SAFEGUARDING
At Warren Wood Primary School, the safeguarding of our students and staff is of paramount importance. Staff are informed on the reporting process to the Safeguarding Team and the impact that disclosures may have. Please take time to read our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy for further information. In addition to safeguarding children, we have a duty to safeguard staff in their lives both inside and outside school.

PURPOSE OF OUR SAFEGUARDING POLICY
Our school’s safeguarding policing makes an explicit commitment to the development of good practice and effective procedures, ensuring that safeguarding concerns and referrals are handled sensitively, professionally and in a way that supports and protects the needs of the child.

There are three main aims to our Safeguarding Policy:
Prevention: by creating a positive school atmosphere and providing high quality teaching and pastoral support to pupils;
Protection: by following agreed procedures and ensuring staff are appropriately recruited, trained and supported to respond appropriately and sensitively to Safeguarding concerns;
Support: by providing support for pupils and school staff and for children who may have been or are being abused;

All those working in education can contribute to the safeguarding and protection of the welfare of a child in need.
According to the DfE, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as:protecting children from maltreatment;
-
preventing impairment of children’s health or development;
-
ensuring children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
-
taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
Child protection is a part of safeguarding and promoting welfare. It refers to the activity that is undertaken to protect specific children who are suffering, or are likely to suffer, significant harm.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility at Warren Wood Primary School.
Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.
This policy applies to all who come into contact with children at Warren Wood Primary School including:
-

-
